Zeus (king of the gods), Ares (god of war), and Hades (god of hell) fear that the power of Rome in the future will overthrow them, so they eliminated this threat. The game’s context is set at a time of prosperity for the Roman Empire, as Roman civilization became more and more powerful and became a thorn in front of the gods on Mount Olympus. However, Glu still has not faltered there and continues to release part 2 of this series, with new gameplay and improved graphics.īlood and Glory no longer follow the same old game mechanics as their seniors but are dressed in action role-playing (RPG) style. The Lewis structure of CH2O can be useful in understanding this reaction and predicting the products that may form in other chemical reactions involving CH2O. This is because CO can react with CH2O to form a stable product, and the amount of CO consumed can be measured to determine the amount of CH2O present. Analytical chemistry: CO is used in analytical chemistry to detect and measure the presence of various compounds, including CH2O.Fuel for combustion engines: CO is used as a fuel for combustion engines such as internal combustion engines and gas turbines.Chemical synthesis: CO is used as a building block for the synthesis of organic compounds such as methanol, acetic acid, and formaldehyde.Production of metal products: CO is used as a reducing agent in the production of iron, steel, and other metals.Applications of COĭespite its toxicity, CO has many important industrial applications. This property makes it useful in the production of metal and chemical products, as well as in the reduction of pollutants in the environment. As a result, the oxygen atom has a partial negative charge, while the carbon atom has a partial positive charge.ĬO is a strong reducing agent, meaning it donates electrons to other atoms or molecules. The bond between carbon and oxygen is a polar covalent bond, with oxygen being more electronegative than carbon. Reactivity: Highly reactive with oxygen and other oxidizing agentsĬO has a linear molecular geometry, with a bond angle of 180 degrees.CO is a byproduct of incomplete combustion, such as that found in car exhaust or gas stoves, and can build up in enclosed spaces without proper ventilation. It is a highly toxic gas that can be lethal in high concentrations. Properties of COĬarbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas at standard temperature and pressure. The triple bond between carbon and oxygen indicates that they share three pairs of electrons, fulfilling the octet rule for both atoms. The final Lewis Structure of CO should look like this: In CO, the formal charge of Carbon (C) is 0, and the formal charge of Oxygen (O) is -1. The formal charge of an atom is the difference between its valence electrons and the number of electrons it has in the Lewis Structure. In CO, both Carbon (C) and Oxygen (O) have a full octet.Ĭalculate the formal charge for each atom in the molecule. Place any remaining valence electrons around the central atom, Carbon (C).Ĭheck to make sure that all atoms in the molecule have a full octet (except for Hydrogen (H), which only needs 2 electrons to fill its outer shell). Place these electrons around the Oxygen (O) atom, giving it a full octet (8 electrons). In CO, we have 4 valence electrons left after the single bond between C and O. Place the remaining valence electrons around the atoms in the molecule. Distribute the remaining valence electrons. Connect Carbon (C) and Oxygen (O) atoms with a single bond.Ĥ. In a Lewis Structure, a single bond is represented by a straight line (-) between the two atoms. In CO, Carbon (C) is the central atom because it has the lower electronegativity of the two atoms. The central atom in a Lewis Structure is usually the atom with the lowest electronegativity. Therefore, the total number of valence electrons in CO is 10. Carbon (C) has 4 valence electrons, and Oxygen (O) has 6 valence electrons. To determine the total number of valence electrons in CO, you need to add up the valence electrons of each atom in the molecule. Determine the total number of valence electrons in CO. How to Draw the Lewis Structure for COĭrawing the CO Lewis structure involves several steps:ġ. In this article, we will explore how to draw the Lewis structure for CO, and the significance of CO in various fields of chemistry. The Lewis structure for CO (carbon monoxide) is a crucial component of understanding its molecular properties and reactivity. He was responsible for providing music for religious services and special events as well as giving music instruction. Early Careerīach had a growing reputation as a great performer, and it was his great technical skill that landed him the position of organist at the New Church in Arnstadt. There he was a jack-of-all-trades, serving as a violinist and at times, filling in for the official organist. In 1703, he landed his first job as a musician at the court of Duke Johann Ernst in Weimar. Bach was greatly influenced by a local organist named George Böhm. Sometime after his arrival, his voice changed and Bach switched to playing the violin and the harpsichord. Bach stayed with his brother's family until he was 15.īach had a beautiful soprano singing voice, which helped him land a place at a school in Lüneburg. Johann Christoph provided some further musical instruction for his younger brother and enrolled him in a local school. His older brother Johann Christoph, a church organist in Ohrdruf, took him in. By the time he turned 10, Bach found himself an orphan after the death of both of his parents. His Lutheran faith would influence his later musical works. His father, Johann Ambrosius, worked as the town musician in Eisenach, and it is believed that he taught young Johann to play the violin.Īt the age of seven, Bach went to school where he received religious instruction and studied Latin and other subjects. Childhoodīorn in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany, on Ma(N.S.) / Ma(O.S.), Johann Sebastian Bach came from a family of musicians, stretching back several generations. Today, he is considered one of the greatest Western composers of all time. Johann Sebastian Bach had a prestigious musical lineage and took on various organist positions during the early 18th century, creating famous compositions like "Toccata and Fugue in D minor." Some of his best-known compositions are the "Mass in B Minor," the "Brandenburg Concertos" and "The Well-Tempered Clavier." Bach died in Leipzig, Germany, on July 28, 1750. (1685-1750) Who Was Johann Sebastian Bach? They moved completely on their own all the way to Safe Shallows, about 150 metres S from lifepod 5! Somehow, the Ampeel reemerged from the ground again, and the chase resumed in full rage. The ghost did not want to chase me very far, so I switched to cyclops cameras and just observed it from distance. At this time I could not see the Ampeel for some time so I presumed it finally died. So I tried to make the Ghost chase me again in the general S direction. After watching the duo for some time clipping thru the shallow Grassy plateau, being on the edge of my camera range I decided to "help" them move with my cyclops. This whole time the duo was slowly moving in the SW direction, from the NBK, thru Underwater Islands, into the Grassy plateau, clipping heavily thru the mountain barrier there. The Ghost Leviathan was fighting the Ampeel some of the time, until getting in range of some other fauna, it then went to kill the new "enemy" first before resuming to chasing the Ampeel. Killing all Bonesharks around, the Ghost seemed particularly focused at one Ampeel there (still in the area between NBK and Underwater Islands), but could not kill it. There were no Bonesharks or Ampeels in his original area, but this new area was full of them. I immediately noticed that he is being very aggressive towards all fauna in his new region. I went into my nearby base a decided to spy on the Ghost with a scanner room camera. The Ghost stayed at the edge of this zone where it chased me, but would not go further, so I gave up at this point. I noticed it's probably related to the border of its original spawn area, the NBK zone. I first tried to get it to chase my cyclops in the general S direction, which worked well for about 200-300 metres, but it would simply not chase me any further, I tried to go back and forth many times, honking the horn etc. More, it circled quite a small circle there, looking like it was trying to bait its own tail. It thought it was rather awkward place for it to spawn, as it was very near the void and generally in an area which you have no reason to go to. In this game (patch 84), it spawned about 250m N of the Lost River entrance there. I started with the one in Northern Blood Kelp zone. I noticed in my past games that Ghosts can actually relocate on the map permanently, so I wanted to see why and how. Observing Ghost Leviathans proved much more interesting and revealing. Not sure why I did not succeed, will try again. Some footage from the experiment:ĮDIT: This has been disproven, apparently you can get Reapers to relocate permanently. Like this, the reaper cleared all the beacons he could see from his territory, but completely ignored the other ones. Then, if he saw another one from his territory, he again went for it, but after destroying it it again ignored all other beacons around and returned to his territory. But, it always only went for single beacon at a time, and after destroying it it immediately returned to his spot. What happened is, the reaper "saw" some of the beacons from his territory and he went after them. I made a line of beacons from my base towards where the reaper circles. I had a base around 80 metres from an edge of a "reaper spot" in the kelp forest by the Aurora's back. My experiement with beacons is very illustrative: I spent considerable time trying to "relocate" them either with them chasing my cyclops or with beacons, they always returned to "their spot". Even if they chase you in a cyclops quite far away, they always eventually go back. They never leave their territory unless provoked, and after they "deal" (attack) with the threat, they always return to their original spot. They have their "spot" on the map which they keep circling around. The short version is both have completely different AI. It's something that really should be in the game.Īnyways I spent considerable time "playing" with first Reapers and the Ghosts and in the process I learned quite a lot about how the behave. And it would add a whole new layer to the game. I soon found out that they can't even bump into them, which is a great shame imo, as leviathan attacking a base is even part of the story. I really wanted to try out to see if leviathans would actually attack the habitat, or at least cause damage by their presence. That’s a huge thing for the character to carry around with her, and one that the movie treats too obliquely, teasing us with glimpses early on, then revealing little by little as the film unfolds. Daphne’s an independent woman entitled to make her own decisions, but the film finds a clumsy way to illustrate an important aspect of her sexual history - and something far too many women share, without having the opportunity to discuss with others: That one-night stand hinted at earlier … well, it occurred between Daphne and a co-worker, and this guy who appears to have been her superior took advantage of her in a way that destroyed her confidence in him, in her workplace and perhaps in anyone she might want to feel intimacy with again. It’s hard to know what exactly the film is coding into its various sex scenes. He seems rebellious and self-deprecating, sends her thirsty text messages displayed in giant markerboard letters on screen and makes love the way characters in Adrian Lyne movies do (which is to say, it’s good for her, it’s good for him and it’s good for the audience). Frank, on the other hand, is a bad boy of sorts. He’s a little too controlling in life and not nearly enough so in the sack (a long way from Dornan’s “Fifty Shades of Grey” character, alas). Jack is attentive, professorial and explicitly uninterested in becoming a father. It’s much easier to accept that each would appeal to her in separate ways. She’s also the one with the birthday party, where Daphne, trying to be a wallflower, meets both Jack and Frank.Īpart from the fact that both could use a good shave, the two men seem so dissimilar, it’s hard to imagine them as friends (which might explain why the possibility doesn’t occur to Daphne). Billie’s the one with the pool house, and the husband, and the baby on the way. Daphne finds it easy to use her imperfect mom (Wendie Malick) as an excuse for the way she turned out, but that doesn’t explain her sister Billie (Lindsay Sloane). Here, there’s no institution to blame, unless you count the patriarchy. Doremus arrived at his own voice with 2011 Sundance winner “Like Crazy” - about a transatlantic couple separated by visa issues - and this is the closest he’s come to re-creating the feel of that film since. It’s the sort of role Gena Rowlands might have played in her 20s, if John Cassavetes had only figured out his method earlier. Daphne recalls the character Anne Hathaway played in “Rachel Getting Married,” who looks like a train wreck to those in her circle but is embraced with greater understanding by the film itself. The movie may be a self-help exercise of sorts - for those who seldom recognize themselves on screen, and who don’t measure up to the expectations set by rom-coms and princess movies - but it’s disguised as a shaggy character study. (Men do it all the time - and the ones around her more than most.) Her journey is about learning to take responsibility, but also to go easy on herself, however contradictory those two concepts may sound.ĭespite (or maybe because of) the sheer amount of amateur psychology at play here, Doremus and co-writer Jardine Libaire make it a point not to get too clinical. The key difference between that era and this one is the attitude director Drake Doremus shows his leading lady: Daphne may acknowledge that her life is a mess, but Doremus doesn’t judge her for it. This movie - whose title, “Endings, Beginnings,” is cutesily withheld until just before the credits roll - is like the mumblecore version of “The Philadelphia Story,” wherein Katharine Hepburn sleeps with both suitors, discovers she’s pregnant by one of them and winds up “Bringing Up Baby” on her own (now I’m just mixing my screwball comedy comparisons). And now, though she’s sworn herself to six months of sobriety and celibacy, Daphne can’t deny her attraction to two totally different guys, Jack ( Jamie Dornan) and Frank (Sebastian Stan), who just so happen to be best friends. That split had something to do with a drunken one-night stand. Daphne, who is played by Shailene Woodley in what is simultaneously her most realistic and least accessible performance yet, recently broke up with her boyfriend, moving back into her sister’s pool house. There’s nothing tidy about Daphne’s love life - and if there were, she probably wouldn’t make a very compelling character. Trick shots using planets’ gravity, volcanoes, and water.Brand new pigs! Synology NAS models manufactured after July 2019 or devices running DSM 7.0 and later no longer support Cloud Station Server. It should upgrade to the corresponding counterparts in Synology Drive 3.0 to ensure compatibility. Synology Drive 3.0 does not support Cloud Station applications (Cloud Station Server, Cloud Station Drive, Cloud Station Backup, Cloud Station ShareSync, or DS cloud). After it is installed, the original Cloud Station is replaced, you can only reinstall Cloud Station if you uninstall Synology Drive first. Note: Both the Synology Drive Server package and the Synology Drive Client desktop application cannot be downgraded. To use Synology Drive, the NAS must meet the requirements, the list of available models lists the models that support Synology Drive. Upgrade from Cloud Station to Synology Drive In order to use Synology Drive, the user must have the permission to go to Control Panel in DSM => User & Group => Edit your user => applications, here enable Synology Drive Allow.įrom the DSM app Synology Drive, additional folders can be created that can also be shared with other users with a share, folders and files can be uploaded and downloaded, moved, renamed and copied. If you go to Synology Drive in DSM, additional folders can be created with +Create, it is important that you log in to the DSM with the same user account as you log in to the Drive Server. In practice, the simpler procedure proves to be preferred by creating the folder beforehand, which you only need to select afterwards. By default, the “Create empty folder Drive” checkbox is selected. It must be ensured that the folder you want to synchronize comes under the desired path. If you are also on the road with Linux, then check “ Files and Folders with the prefix (.) synchronizing” is well worth it. If you want to create several Drive folders or synchronize other existing ones, click on the small folder icon with the plus (+) in the upper right corner, here you enter the folder name that you want to synchronize. On the Windows the Synology Drive Client is up and running, click the +Create button to connect to Synology Drive Server.Ĭhoose Other Synology NAS and enter your domain name or QuickConnect ID followed by your user account and password.Īfter the connection to the NAS has been established, select the folder to be synchronized with the Synology Drive Server. Alternatively, there is the option of using the DDNS service, Synology offers itself as a service provider, or if you prefer another provider, one of the well-known DDNS providers can be selected. The Windows client requires its counterpart, the desktop application Synology Drive Client, which can be downloaded from DSM 7 via the link “Get Synology Drive apps now” from the opened Synology Drive app.Īn account must be created in the DSM control panel, if not already available, go to Synology Account to create new account, log in to Synology with your account, a QuickConnect ID can be created under External Access. However, the prerequisite is that the DiskStataion is DSM 7 capable, if this is not the case, get as here in this case and buy a new DS220. The installation of Synology Drive Server is done quickly, you open the package center and enter drive in the search field, after clicking on Install the package is deployed in a few seconds. Also, Synology Drive Client with backup task includes a simple and fast way to back up the data. Secure online access to personal and shared data via Synology Drive Mobile App, desktop clients, web browser, or other Synology NAS, with granular permission settings and SSL encryption. Unlike a public cloud, you have 100% data control and no additional costs, so there is no circumstance with privacy. The purpose is that files are available and up-to-date on all devices. This post shows how to install Synology Drive Server with DSM 7 and how to set up Synology Drive Client on Windows.Īs with its predecessor, Synology Drive works simply like offline files that are synchronized via a server, you set up a folder on the Synology NAS, which is then synchronized with any devices in the network or mobile devices on the go. Anyone granted access can view and edit these files on any device. Synology Drive is the successor to CloudStation, allowing you to store files in your own cloud. |
